On 27 March 2025, Suomen Taloushallintoliitto published a news item inviting accounting and financial administration professionals to participate in interviews testing the OmaVero online tax service. According to the publication, the Tax Administration is preparing changes to tax payment and refund processes during 2025. The development of OmaVero is linked to a broader reform of the Tax Collection Act, the draft of which is currently subject to a consultation round.
If implemented, the reform would simplify tax payments, clarify the use of tax refunds, and reduce administrative burden for businesses. Under the government proposal, companies and other entities would be able to pay taxes using a single reference number, instead of multiple tax-specific reference numbers. The handling of self-assessed taxes and tax refunds would also be simplified.
The reform of tax collection legislation is intended to be implemented in phases during 2025. The Tax Administration is currently seeking professionals working in accounting firms and in-house finance functions to take part in approximately one-hour interviews during April–May. Participants are asked to test OmaVero’s payment tracking and payment information features and provide feedback on usability and planned changes.
