The German customs authority has fully revised its questionnaire for customs authorizations, making the new version mandatory since June 1, 2026 for all relevant application and monitoring procedures.
Ongoing application processes remain unaffected and will continue under the previous rules. The updated questionnaire retains its six-section structure covering general instructions, company and compliance information, accounting and logistics, solvency, professional qualifications, and security requirements.
A major change introduces a future requirement to provide the tax identification number and responsible tax office for most authorizations, though this is not yet required for current monitoring submissions. Companies are advised to prepare for the new requirements early, as the updated questionnaire will also serve as the basis for the AWB authorization manager and central compliance administration systems.
The revision represents part of Germany's broader customs modernization efforts, streamlining authorization processes while enhancing compliance oversight for businesses operating under customs procedures.
