Administrative NewsTuesday, May 13, 2025

The French tax administration has published the first set of technical standards from the Association Française de Normalisation (AFNOR) standardisation commission for France's mandatory B2B electronic invoicing reform, covering invoice formats, profiles and specific management rules for the minimum baseline requirements.

The AFNOR working documents are available through the professional section of the tax administration website under external B2B specifications. The published materials define the technical formats and profiles that will form the foundation of France's B2B e-invoicing system, including detailed specifications for electronic invoices and status reporting mechanisms.

Additional publications covering use cases and the standardisation API are scheduled for release at the end of May 2025. These forthcoming documents will provide further technical guidance for businesses preparing to implement the electronic invoicing requirements.

The publication represents a concrete step in France's preparation for mandatory B2B electronic invoicing, providing businesses with standardised technical frameworks needed for system development and compliance preparation ahead of the reform's implementation.
