The Egyptian Tax Authority has launched a mobile application that enables instant verification of VAT and cigarette tax registration certificates through QR codes printed on secure stamps, marking a new phase in the country's digital tax transformation efforts.
The application, accessible via https://verifytax.nasps.org.eg/, allows taxpayers and citizens to verify certificate authenticity using any mobile device by scanning the QR code on the secure stamp. The system is compatible with all mobile operating systems and provides immediate verification results.
Rasha Abdel Aal, head of the Egyptian Tax Authority, announced the initiative as part of ongoing efforts to modernise the country's tax system under Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk's directives. The application represents an upgrade to Egypt's existing banderole system, strengthening oversight capabilities and supporting anti-tax evasion measures.
The digital verification system aims to prevent circulation of non-compliant goods or products with unpaid taxes by enabling regulatory authorities and citizens to quickly verify data accuracy. The move forms part of Egypt's comprehensive digital transformation plan for tax services, designed to enhance transparency and build trust between taxpayers and the tax administration.
